Heather's Bookshelf

Here are some wonderful books that have been a blessing to me.  They are easy to read and very informative.  I hope you enjoy them and learn from them as much as I have.

Created to Be His Help Meet by Debi Pearl

Debi Pearl has been the "older woman" who has taught me to be a keeper at home, to love my husband & kids, to be sober, etc.  She's written this book for women and it is full of scriptures, examples and encouragement.  You can also purchase the journal that accompanies this book but it's not necessary.

No Greater Joy (child training) by Michael & Debi Pearl
Bobby & I have used these books to train Hannah & Samuel.  They, too, are full of practical wisdom from the Bible on how to train your child to be obedient and happy.  Overflowing with encouragement and examples as well as testimonies, these books have been a true blessing to our little family.  Click here for more info and how to purchase it.

Love & Fertility by Mercedes A. Wilson

This book teaches natural family planning in the form of the ovulation method.  A dear friend of mine shared this book with me and I love it to the point that I tell every one about it!  Natural family planning is skipped over completely in high school sex ed and is mentioned in passing at the OB/GYN.
I love that it's natural and teaches you to recognize and use your body's signals to achieve or postpone pregnancy.  Not only that but you'll have a better understanding of your body and know sooner if something is wrong.  Definitely a must read for all ladies!
Here is additional info and where to order.

The Diaper Free Baby by Christine Gross-Loh

The same dear friend that shared Love & Fertility with me also shared Diaper Free Baby with me.  It's all about "elimination communication" which is learning your newborn/toddlers potty cues.  You'll learn about babies being born with the instinct to not soil themselves (hence you get peed on when you take their diapers off!) and how you can "potty train" your baby from infancy.
I started practicing elimination communication with Samuel when he was only two months old.  I ordered a Baby Bjorn travel potty and set to work on learning his "potty cues."  You'll learn that every baby gives signals that they need to use the bathroom.  He was completely potty trained before he turned two years old.  This book is awesome and it really works!!

Herbal Remedies by Andrew Chevallier

Bobby bought me this book for my birthday after I expressed an interest in learning about herbs and natural remedies.  I became interested in herbs after a visit to the doctor's office.  I knew what my illness was but still had to go to the office to be examined and get a prescription for the medicine I needed.  I was so frustrated and knew I could treat myself at home (in minor cases.  I would go to the doctor for emergencies!)  I soon began to frequent the Bulk Herb Stores website as well as several others.  Then my darling husband gave me Herbal Remedies.
I've read several herb books but this one is hands down the best.  I love this book!  It has information on how to purchase herbs from health stores as well as how to grow, harvest & dry your own.  It has almost every herb you can imagine - it includes a picture of the herb, description, it's benefits and the best way to use it (capsule, salve, tincture, tea, etc.)  I've used this book to aid in our recovery from ear infections to the common cold.
You're more than welcome to borrow mine if you don't want to buy your own.
