Natural Diaper Rash Remedy

Recently my wonderful friend, Jenny, called me to share an exciting discovery she had made.  A natural diaper rash remedy that was easy to make at home and most importantly...one that works!!  Naturally we had to share it with you!

Jenny's sweet daughter, Maddie (3 y/o), has recently been on a series of antibiotics due to some health issues.  We all know how antibiotics can upset your tummy and this caused Maddie to have some serious diaper rash.  Because Maddie was on the antibiotics it was difficult for Jenny to get rid of this rash.

Thankfully, Jenny found a remedy on the Bulk Herb Store website (check it out for yourself...they do have suggestions for natural home remedies). The solution?  Thyme.
And ladies it is so simple to make...
Make a "tea" with the thyme leaves.  Just boil them in water and then strain them out.
Jenny then pours the "tea" into a mason jar which she keeps in the fridge.
Not only does the thyme work as an antibacterial and anti-fungal but keeping it cool was soothing to Maddie when Jenny applied it.  To apply she used a cotton ball (Q-tip would work too) and allowed it to air dry before putting on a fresh diaper.  Jenny said that the rash cleared up in a few short days.
Told you it was easy.

Other uses for thyme include:
  • Make your thyme tea, mix with a spoonful of honey and drink as a tasty remedy for colds, catarrh, sinus congestion, sore throat, tonsillitis and indigestion/gas.
  • Thyme also brings relief for all manners of cough and chest problems - asthma and whooping cough included.
  • Add thyme to your bath to help with arthritic and rheumatic conditions.
As soon and I get the opportunity I'm going to start growing my own thyme.  Not only is it a delicious addition to dishes but it obviously has some great medicinal benefits as well!

Thanks for sharing with us Jenny!
